win XP installation

I'm having a problem with the installation win XP pro on a
40 gig maxtor HD. I've installed it on a 6 gig HD without
any problems, but when I try to install it on the 40 gig
HD, the installation jams when copyin the driver.cab
file. Why is it that I don't have a problem with the
smaller HD? I have a dell optiplex gx100 433 mhz celeron
computer. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Windows XP cd's have all the tools to do a clean install, disconnect
everything except the monitor, mouse & keyboard.
