Win XP Home not booting

I just installed the newest BIOS update from Intel for the
D865PERL motherboard. The system doesn't boot but displays
the following: Reboot and select proper boot device or
insert boot media in selected boot device. CD will boot
the Win XP Home CD to the recovery console, but what is
the next step? Suggestions.....

Hopefully you made a backup of the BIOS before you updated. You should
reapply the old version, and that should fix things for you.

Interestingly enough, I didn't make a backup copy of the
BIOS. However, more interesting things follow: I see by
the setup that the new BIOS is in effect. Now, in an
effort to repair the situation, I booted from the Win XP
CD and attempted a repair using the R key after the F8 key
request. Well, nothing happened. Does ANYONE OUTTHERE KNOW
ANYTHING ABOUT THE *&$%#@#### RECOVERY CONSOLE? WHAT THE
&%*$ is the friggin protocal? Is there a method to this
piscine madness? I want to get on with my work, and not
have to re-configure the system every few days. Maybe
I'll take a bite of apple, at least it's refreshing.

It sounds like your hard drives are not being seen. Fix what you did
with BIOS and Windows will likely be fine.
