Rasmus

I have two computers and I would like to make them work together (file
sharing, etc)

First computer:
Desktop computer, running with XP home edition
Zonealarm.

Second computer:
Notebook, running with XP home edition
Zonealarm

Both computers are connected to a HUB, which is connected to a Cable
Modem.
Both computers are getting on the Internet - no problem, but they
can't find each other....

Please help ;)

If both computers are connecting through a hub to the Internet then each is
getting a public IP address assigned by your ISP. These may not be on the
same subnet so you do not have a LAN. Replace the hub with a router unless
there is a specific reason that you need 2 public IP Addresses.

Robert says to make sure no firewall is on the LAN. I think what he means is
make sure it is properly configured and not blocking access between the
computers. Firewalls can often interfer with Windows networking. You really
need a firewall but while troubleshooting, it is a good idea to remove all
firewall programs.
