internet connection through a LAN

Andre' Punnett

I am having problems in connecting other computers on my
LAN to the internet. My main machine is connected through
a USB Cable Modem, this in turn is connected to other
computers through a ethernet hub. All computers can see
one another and transfere files between each other, but
not connect to the interent. I have disabled the
microsoft firewall and am running ZoneAlarm Security
Suite. All machines are running Windows XP Home. I have
bridged the connection between the LAN and the USB Modem
on the main machine. I can see a connection to USB
conection on the other machine under network connections,
Type: - Internet Gateway, Status: - Enabled, but still no
joy.
Any ideas

Andre',

bridging works only when the cable company gave you IP
addresses, one for each computer, and when you have set the
computer up with these IP addresses.

If you have only one IP address, give that to the USB modem side
and enable ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on that computer.
Set the other computers' IP addresses to automatic and DNS as
well.
