Win XP hard drive only showing 100mb capacity with 0% free.

We had a network breach of our system. Two workstations that I am aware of
would not log into the network under the user's profile. The error was that
the user profile could not be loaded. A temp profile will be used instead.
When I log onto the temp profile and look at the c: drive, this forty gig
drive only shows that it has the total capcity of 100mb with 0% free. Has
anyone seen this before? I can't load a virus scan software because there is
no free space. Since this is happening on two computer that I know of, I
think the intruders may have put some kind of trojan or somthing on our
network.

Hi Chan,

I would suggest removing the problem drive. Slave it into a standalone
machine with an installed, updated anti-virus program - and spyware removal
tools on-board, such as Spybot Search and Destroy, and Adaware Se, be sure
those programs are current as well.

If this is not doable in your work situation, I'd try to install at least a
malware scanner from some other type of medium, (a Zip Drive, or thumbdrive,
or CD-R.)

Hopefully, some other posters will have comparable or better working
solutions for you.
