Hard Drive Space Problem

I've got a Windows XP Pro loaded on Dell Inspiron 4100. I use it in the office environment off the domain. This is my personal machine and I've had my own profile setup prior to joining the company. Company's network administrator set me up with another profile to work from the office to which I migrated all my programs and am solely working off of the new profile setup for me. A few days ago I could not access the network and the office administrator setup another profile for me.

I've installed programs on all three profiles. I have a 30GB hard drive, however now when I select to view all files (including windows and hidden) it shows that I've used 17.74GB of hard drive space. When I right click properties on my C drive it shows that I've used 21.08GB of space. The other day I uninstalled Microsoft Encart (about 1GB worth of space) and when I did that it did not free up that space on my hard drive.

I've done all I can to unhide all files, however I don't know where the other 3.34GB (21.08GB - 17.74GB) of space is taken on my drive. I'd like to migrate all profiles into one as well in order to eliminate any unecessary drive space alocated for those profiles. Nonetheless I just can't seem to find out why my drive is showing that it has 21.08GB of used space when all the files I select amount to 17.74GB.

Hi,

Do you have any Norton Products installed (like
Sytemworks).
Right-click the recycle bin and delete any "protected"
files.

Tim

I do have Norton System Works and I did erase all protected and unprotected files. I purged them all and am still having the same problem. It's not freeing up any more space

Thank you for your reply Tim. If you have any other suggestions please post them.

12% (3430MB) of my hard drive space is allocated to system restore. I am "missing" about 3.4GB of space, although I've never changed the system restore disk space size I've never noticed 3.4GB difference. Is this where my "missing" hard drive space is?
