Win XP firewall - automatic appearance of open ports for 'msmsgs' service

PLease help me to solve this problem.

I am running Windows XP professional with enabled Win XP
firewal over the DSL connection (on LAN card). However,
each time 'msmsgs' service appear automatically there with
different TCP and UDP every time, even after I uncheck
them or delete. I do not want these services and these
open ports on my firewall. As I understand, this 'msmsgs'
relates to Ms Exchage Server (maybe I am wrong?), but I do
not run this Server, or any other one.

How I can disable this automatic appearance of 'msmsgs'
TCP and UDP open ports in my Win XP firewall?

Msmgs is Microsoft Messenger (instant messaging). In msconfig you should be
able to disable it from starting up.
Re configuring the XP firewall - I haven't used it much, so I'm not sure
what you'd do there.

Thank you very much for your advice. It was in fact
Windows Messanger. I only had difficulties stopping it. As
soon as I was able to exit it, I do not have these
automatically opened ports anymore. The problem with
exiting Windows Messanger was that first of all, INstant
Message scanning should be disabled for MSN Messenger in
Norton Antivirus 2003, otherwise Messenger does not exit,
it says, that some applications are open which use its
service (while it is only Norton Antivirus scanner). The
answer to this problem of closing Windows Messanger I
found in the "Messenger" discussion group here, at this
Microsoft board.
