Hi,

My problem is that when I select "Show hidden files and folders" option in
addittion to unchecking the "Hide protected operating system files
(Recommended)" option so that I be able to view hidden and system files in
my system but after doing that It does not work I mean Windows does not obey
or follow its options and does not let me view hidden or system files on the
hard drive. I am using P4 2.4ghz,256 mb with win xp pro on my system.

Plz help in this regard.

Thanks in advance for u r help and time.

Check the settings for Hidden and ShowSuperHidden in this registry key.

CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

Hidden Folders and Files
Value Name: Hidden
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 0 or 1
0 = Hide Files
1 = Show Files

Hidden Operating System Files
Value Name: ShowSuperHidden
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 0 or 1
0 = Hide Files
1 = Show Files

I'm also facing the same problem. Hidden files dissappear forever...

Tried that registery thing:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

My Registery named Hidden is not REG_DWORD, but it is REG_SZ.
Its DATA was 0, I changed it to 1, still no change in the hidden files.

I'm using XP Media Center edition...

:-(

Delete the "Hidden" REG_SZ value in registry then open folder options and select
"Show hidden files" > Click OK

Good Luck, Ayush.

OK. Delete the "Hidden" REG_SZ value again and create a new "Hidden" REG_DWORD value
and set its value to 1
Reboot windows.

Good Luck, Ayush.

Although, I'll backup my registery before doing it, but still...

I deleted that Registry entry...

And again went to folder options... Show hidden files... Still nothing...
Create a new text file > Apply hidden appributes... it's gone forever...

And upon opening Registry again, that entry "Hidden" is again there...
