win xp crashing

After having problems with my old version of window xp pro but without any
backup I decided to purchase and install windows Xp home edtion. I
reformatted the "c" drive and installed win xp home but the system has
continued to be unstable. This is particularly the case, though not always,
if I use any files that use multimeadia. The error log report repeatedly
reports the following error

"AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address
(0x70), which lies in the 0x70 - 0x71 protected address range. This could
lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical
assistance."

I have tried installing service pack 2 pack the system crashed during it's
installation. What do suggest I do? Do you think it's a harware problem?
Before the purchasing win xp and I had installed a logitech webcam and it
seems like that's when the problems began. However I long ago unplugged the
webcam and uninstalled the the software associated with it. Do you think it
done some damage to my graphics or video card ?

It sounds like you have a hardware problem in the BIOS. The
message says as much and told you to contact the computer
maker about an update for your BIOS and possibly a
replacement of damaged hardware.

Hi Robin,

As mentioned in the Help&Support group, this is a hardware issue that
requires a BIOS update from the system manufacturer or motherboard maker.
