Win XP cant be pinged

R

Roger Foott

A WIN XP Pro machine connected to a peer-to-peer network
can ping all the other computers, printer, router etc.
but no other computer can ping the XP machine. Other XP
machines on the network can be pinged. Please help.

Also when I display "Computers near me" on another
machine an Icon appears for the Troublesome XP machine
but when I double click the Troublesome XP machines icon
I get a network path not found message

Please help.

Hey Roger,
Most likely you have the internet firewall box checked
under the advanced settings tab of TCP/IP
configuration... This would allow you to see them and
they not see you.

To turn this off go to Local Area Connection
Properties, via the network config page. Then go to
advanced tab, and uncheck the Internet Connection
Firewall...

Hope this helps....
