After double clicking My Computer Win XP is constantly searching for its
content. I can't even get into My Computer from within any application. I get
the message: server busy.... Any hints?

Last time I had this issue was it ended up being a hardware case - it was an
issue with the IDE cable that was about to break. Or are they terminated
(slave/master/cs) properly?

Check your cables and see if they're ok. Then will go to investigating on
the software part...

GLuck!

Hi,

Does explorer work ok when opening other folders?

Thanks for responses.
When I'm opening "My Computer" and then a flashlight appeared on the screen
for 3min ..then my computer freezes.

I reset my computer 5 times, and I still keep having the same problem.

The computer is loading fine. However when I click on "My Computer" the
flashlight comes on..then it freezes.

I dont think it is hardware issue - It is laptop and I have checked H drive
connection.
I'm suspecting that the problem could be one folder within My Computer which
wasn't there before. Previously I had C:, D: and My Documents. Now there is
additional folder Documents which after double click shows a message: Access
is denied. But right click does not even give me an option to delete the
file. How can I get rid of it.

Hi,

Run regedit, look under this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace
See if there is a subkey or string that corresponds to that folder. Click on
it, export a copy, then delete it. See if this helps.

Thanks Rick, but I didnt notice any string that would correspond to that
folder in Registry Editor. I'm getting different advices from different
sources and now I can access the suspected Documents file in My Computer (it
has subfolders like shared pictures, shared music etc.) But still the wait
time is 2min to open My Computer folder. Computer freezes when I want to
access My Computer from within any other application.
