I am pretty sure what I was correct in my earlier post.... and I seems to
have the same problem and even after these scan AVG, Spybot, Norton, Ad-aware
and CA (all with the latest definitions).
For completeness, in my pc, 1 hdd into 3 partitons, C (XP), D (WIN 2K) and
E (spare). and usb ext hdd (G and H data only) with F (cd rom drive).
A/ Boot into C: XP (no ext hdd plug in yet),
For some unknown reasons, when I am boot in XP, my computer> double
click on D/E, I cannot see the content/folders of " D' or E , this message
appears "sss.exe
Window cannot find sss.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly ......"
zz) If I want to see the content of 'D/E", I have to right click
start>explore>"the D/E partitons" OR my computer>right click the partiton>
"open" it
NOW, if I plug in my ext hdd, the pc will detect it and it will show up in
my computer>C,D,E, F, G, H.
My computer>double click on either D,E,G,H - will not be able to see the
folders/content of these partitions.
If I want to see the contents/folders of D,E,G,H - I need to do as in (zz)
B) Boot into D: WIN 2K
When I boot my pc into Win2k (no ext hdd plug in yet),
my computer> double click on the C,D,E - I can see the folders/content in
these partitions. (this part seems to contradict my earlier posting but I am
sure I was right then and dont know why is it different now)
Now, I plug in ext hdd, it detected ok and show up in my computer,C,D,E,
and G,H.
However when I double click G or H, the "sss, exe message appears" and it
will not display the content/folders in G or H.
In order for me to see the content/folders in G or H, I have to as stated in
(zz)
Prior to the appearance of the "sss.exe message.....", I can see the content
of C,D,E G or H just by my computer> double click on partitions,
I am still trying to see what other scans I can use from your earlier
postings. Thought to let you know whats happening and see if there are
further ideas as how to get rid of the "sss.exe message" so that in order to
see the content just by doing the normal :- my computer>(double click the
partitions) ................thank you
