Win XP Boot Up Issue

Hi Everyone,

Sometimes I have a problem booting up (gets to the Win XP screen and freezes
- the horizontal lights work - but does not go into windows) into XP Media
Center - but only when I update something, an app, windows, etc. This
doesn't happen all the time - but about half the time. My remedy so far is
to boot up into safe mode - then back into regular windows. Sometimes, I
even have to boot into safe mode - restore to an earlier time - then boot
back into regular mode. All in all, all this activity could take me a couple
of cycles before windows will boot up normally.

I have an HP Pivillion media center pc. I wonder if the repair console will
help me? Anyway, I've ordered the win boot pc (didn't come with the
computer) if I need that.

Any comments and direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Patrick
