Thanks for posting!
I understand that users were experiencing slow logins when attempting to
logon to the domain. If I have misunderstood your concerns, please feel
free to let me know.
From your description, Can I assume that everything behaves normally when
attempting to login locally?
Base on my experience, the issue is mostly likely caused by that the
clients and server were configured to resolve DNS names. Please verify the
network configuration on the server to point to itself for preferred DNS,
also configured the clients to point to the local DNS server.
If the issue persists, please check if there is any corresponding error in
Event Log on Clients in question. Additionally, please enable User
Environment Event Logging and re-login domain. Check to see the error in
the UserEnv.log. More detailed information as below is for your reference:
Collecting UserEnv Information

a. On the Windows XP machine, use Registry Editor to add the following
registry value (or modify it, if the value already exists):
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Value: UserEnvDebugLevel
Value Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 10002 (Hexadecimal)
Note: To disable logging, change the value to 0.
b. Restart the computer, and make sure the issue occurs.
c. The log file is written to the %Systemroot%\Debug\UserMode\Userenv.log
file, please send this file to me at (e-mail address removed)

| For some reason, a large number of laptops in the company are starting up
| slowly right after entering the password. The login screen is grayed out
| and will stay there for good few mins. The initial login screen comes
| quickly though.
