win xp activation

Stan

I've activated windows XP through MS 800 number. Now my
computer is in a loop 1st telling me that I must
activate, when I click "yes" it says "windows is already
activated" I click "ok" to exit. On the welcome screen, I
click on my user name, and it tells me I must activate.
Any help any1 can give me is appreciated. Even an 800
support number.

I've read this in several places, though I cannot vouch for it as I've not
had this problem. That means try it as a last resort, with the worst case
scenario being you deactivate windows and have to make an 800 number phone
call.

Go to start/run, and type

regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll

OK, then,

regsvr32.exe licdll.dll

Open the registry and edit the Value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents
"OOBETimer "
Change at least one digit of this value to deactivate Windows.

Restart windows:

Start/Run, type:
%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a
----------------

This appears to be very similar to what you would do if you needed to change
your cd-key, but several people report that after typing the above you
should get a WINDOWS IS ALREADY ACTIVATED message and it should clear up the
loop.

Now, it also looks like the process used for changing a CD-key as this
sequence is similar to how you would DEACTIVATE WINDOWS, forcing you to
activate it again -- which if you have a legitimate copy isn't really a big
deal...just call the 800 number and explain what happened.
