I am the only person using this computer, yet every time I shutdown or put
the computer on standby I get the box calling for my usename and password.
Since I am the only one to use the computer I do not need a password and I
just click OK and I'm in. But I would still like to get rid of that box
calling for my password. How do I do that? Thank you. Mahlon

- Click Start / Run / control userpasswords2 {OK}
- Click your logon name
- Untick the box that requires you to enter a password
- Click OK.

When finished, store your password in a safe place. You are
highly likely to forget it now that you no longer have to enter
it each day. However, sooner or later you will need it again!

Set a good password and use it. Just because you're the only person with
physical access to the machine doesn't mean that your machine is magically
harder to remotely access: Using the security functions at your disposal
make your machine harder to compromise.
