win min

when I first start my pc and go out to the internet...I
have a porn site that has attached itself to my homepage.
I can change it. But, when go to shutdown I get an error
warning that "Win Min" can not shutdown...do you know
what this is? and does it have anything to do with this
porn site attaching to my homepage?

Get rid of the spy/ad/mal-ware first..

After you cleanup your PC somewhat of spy/ad/mal-ware, verify your antivirus
software is updated and run a full scan of your computer. If you have no
antivirus software - get one NOW!

Now - turn on that firewall...

Also, the next time you use the newsgroups, please don't use your email
address in its pristine state. At least jumble it such as ckfaires ATSYMBOL
cox DOT net so that the applications/people looking for an address to start
spamming you with have a harder time.

thanks for your help...I went to spybot and download the
spybot s & d...i ran it and it found some problems...I
was able to fix them...however, it didn't fix my original
issue...

I do have an up-to-date virus software and a
firewall...two of them in fact...on my pc and on my
router...i was not aware of how to turn it on in XP...so
that was helpful...

anymore suggestion??...this thing with the porn site and
the "win min" error just started happening yesterday...

and thanks for the warning on using my e-mail address...I
don't use may newsgroup sites so I am unfamilar with the
protocol...
