Win ME to XP Pro questions

Hi,

I'm planning to move on from Win ME to XP Pro, but there
are a few things I need to know first. So I'd really
appreciate your help.

My system is Win ME (Italian) on a PIII/800Mhz/256MB PC.
I've been having enormous problems with the regisrty
recently which I haven't been able to solve (I've tried
every single solution in the Knowledge Base, etc.)

1. Can I buy the XP Pro upgrade and then actually do a
clean install so that I don't bring over the ME regisrty
errors into the new system?

2. My system is Italian because I bought it in Italy. But
I want the English version of XP both for the English
menus and because I'd like to use it with macro programs
like Macro Angel, etc. (they don't work fully on non-
English systems). Can I technically get the U.S. upgrade
for an Italian Win ME?

Thanks for any help you could thorw my way.

One cannot upgrade from one language version of Windows to
another language version. You'll need to purchase a "full version"
of Windows XP English and then perform a "clean install".
