The Win key, aka Windows logo key, is supposed to be usable both by itself
and as a modifier. By itself it brings forth the start menu. Therein lies my
problem: How is the start menu action compatible with the modifier action, in
theory and in practice.
In theory, surely you don't want the start menu popping up every time you do
one of the actions using the modifier. Since you always press the modifier
key first, what keeps the win key, when pressed as a modifier, from
immediately bringing the start menu?
In practice, the start menu comes up as expected, but this seems to preclude
the modifier key action.
One possibility that I think of is that I recall doing a hack that
eliminated the start menu delay. Perhaps you _need_ that delay, if you are
going to use the win key as a modifier. I think this is probably not the
cause, however, since recently the win key worked correctly as a modifier.
When it worked as a modifier, though, it didn't work for the start menu. Is
there an option somewhere?
