Win Installer

Performed a restore and 'Windows Installer" window started popping up.
"Preparing to install..." is in the window, with no indication as to what
was about to be installed.
Each window will be up 2-4 sec, then disappear, only to be replaced by
another... and another, ad nauseum.
There have been 3 open at once, as seen in the taskbar.
No pgms seem to be affected, but the constant flashing is frustrating.
Any ideas?

Have you tried add/remove programs to uninstall the installer?
