In Windows explorer when I search for file with *.sql in filename and "view"
in "A word or phrase in the file" it is finding only *.sql files which
contain "view" as a part of the filename????

I swear I am not crazy. it is looking into the filename when it should be
looking in the text of the file.

it is looking into the filename when it should be

First, sql is not a file type that Search will search the text.

Second, txt is a file type that Search will search the text.

Read this.

Then get this.

xp_persisthandler.vbs - Enable XP's "Search" to find text in files.

More information here.

Using the "A word or phrase in the file" search criterion may not work

XP's search will look for text in files with only certain extensions and
.sql is not one of them. Wes gave you a link to a KB article on how
to add the .sql extension to the files that will be searched. Another
option is to use the free search tool, Agent Ransack, which does not
have this limitation.
