My attachments from outlook go to aol users as a win.dat file, which can not
be opened. I can send the same mesage attachment from web aol and it's ok.
Oulook changes the attachment to win.dat. How can I fix this?

I think you mean winmail.dat.
Change your message format from Rich Text to either Plain Text or HTML.

I have the problem which just started, but I am not sending to AOL users nor
am I a AOL user. I tried sending in Plain, htlm, and rich text. They still
get my attachement as winmail.dat. It is possibly happening to people who use
verizon webmail to access their mail. I send from outlook 2003 and it comes
up to the receiver as winmail.dat and when the person triesto open it on
verizon webmail, it says its a data file and unable to open.

Those are not mutually exclusive.
