win 98 to y2k upgrade

after upgrading over an existing win98 installation when you boot the system
you see for a brief amount of time a background someone was using in win98 as
you log on to win2000, how can you get rid of it?

Do you mean the logo screen? Delete the file called logo.sys in the root
directory.
 
Try this: (Courtesy of Bob I)

Turn OFF Active Desktop, Change Wallpaper to NONE, Apply, Turn ON Active
Desktop.
