HELP

I have a windows 98 computer in my office and my laptop
is running windows XP. When I try to read files from my
office on my laptop, I am unable to read them and it says
that the disc is not formatted. I understand that it is
not formatted for XP, but for Win 98...how can I use
these files from floppy dics?

The file systems from Win98 and XP should be compatible as far a floppy dics
are concerned. Sometimes a floppy drive produces dics that are incompatible
when read on another floppy drive. Perhaps the tracks are written off centre
or something like that.

Can you read office dics on a computer other than your laptop? Can the
office computer read dics written on your laptop? A few things to try.

See http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;140060 - broadly, if you
format the disks from blank in the 98, or even better in the XP, you
should be able to use them, but ones formatted in earlier windows - and
I suspect ones sold 'pre formatted' won't work
