Does anyone know if there is going to be a 64 Bit
upgrade / Win2k 64 Bit avail. Currently have an
opportunity to build a new system and do not want any part
of XP..

TY,
Matt

No. Your eventual choices will be to stick with 32-bit Win2K,
upgrade to XP or to 64-bit Win2K3/Longhorn.

There's only a 9 month difference between MS's end-of-life
dates for Win2K and XP, so you're better off sticking with
Win2K until Longhorn is released next year.

Longhorn has been put back to late 2006, and apparently many of the supposed
superior features have been dropped.
By that time I suppose 64 bit will be passé

No, there will be no 64-bit edition of Win2K. The OS is nearly at
its end-of-life. Why are you afraid of WinXP?

You don;t have to be afraid of it to not like it :-)

I suppose that's a point, but what's not to like? It's basically
an upgrade to Win2K, but even more stable. For example the _only_
BSOD I've ever seen on a WinXP machine was caused by a hardware (RAM,
actually) failure, while I've seen some corrupted applications or
drivers take down Win2K machines.

Lots of us are refusing to upgrade because of WPA. And unless
MS drops WPA by the time Longhorn is released Win2K will
be our last MS OS.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm still running DOS because it pisses me off
that graphical interfaces rely so heavily on a mouse! Just you and me
baby....! :) The others don't know how good we have it! :)
