Win 2K on PC with 1700+ XP Processor

I have a pc with a 1700+ XP CPU, can I run Windows 2000 or
am I stuck with XP.

XP doesn't have drivers for much of my added equipment
such as my HP3300C Scanner and I have not been succesful
in adding a new maxtor 120GHD. The Maxtor Software sees it
as a 120 GHD, but XP only sees it as 8G. It doesn't even
see additional space for extended or logical drives.

HELP

My next step is to trash MS XP and load Linux.

If XP does not have drivers for equipment you are likely to be very
disappointed if you load Windows 2000 instead. XP has a consumer version
and as such many more drivers have been produced for it. Anyway much of
the time you have to go locate the drivers yourself as the manufacturer
did not provide them to Microsoft in time to be included with the
operating system. Go to the link below for your Scanner driver and good
hunting for the others.

No, WinXP dropped support much of the older hardware in Win2K, even though
drivers are pretty much the same on both.

People have grabbed INF and SYS files from 2K and got them working on XP. This
is not trivial and not always going to work.
