I do not see how you can manage that without affecting the OS but here is how
you can make the computer see the whole of 300 Gb

Start/run/regedit
select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
navigate to system/services/atapi/parameters or
system/currentcontrolset/services/atapi/parameters
right click for new
Select Dword name it EnableBigLba (take note of case)
set value to 1
end regedit
reboot

by affecting i ment damaging, corrupting, erasing???. when win 2k installed
it only formated the 137 gb. what about the unformatted area, and what about
the partition? that was created during installation? can i utilize the whole
300gb without the partition without doing any of the above to the os
thanks Merry Christmas

You have to use third party software such as Partition Magic or Bootit
Next Generation to expand the 137GB partition so it encompasses the
entire disk.
