Win 2003 PDC?

D

Dean J. Garrett

I just finished installing Windows Server 2003 Enterprise on a new box.
Everything went smoothe. During install, it asked if I wanted to make the
server part of a "Workgroup" or "Domain". Actually, I wanted to make the
server a PDC. Not seeing how I can create a new PDC, I chose the "Domain"
options and entered the name of the PDC I hope to create.

Does anyone know how I can make this server a PDC?

Thank you.

You are using the wrong term. In windows 2003, there are no more BDCs or
PDC. All domain controllers are DCs with writable copy of database. If you
want to make a Windows 2003 machine to a Domain/Domain Controller, you have
run DCPROMO command and select the new forest and new domain option.
