I have win 2000 on my system. I want to wipe out the hard
drive. How do I reformat my drive?

To do a clean install, either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup
disks. The set of four install disks can be created from your Windows 2000
CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute
makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the
prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Dave I understand the last part of the process, but how do
you change to the \bootdisk directory on the CD ROM?

Thanks

cd bootdisk

Gotcha, but when I type in makeboot.exe or makebt32.exe it
tells me that this is not an internal or external command.

You'll need to be in the correct directory or specify the complete path to
the file. Does the file exist in the current directory? Easiest to boot the
CD-Rom

I finally figured it out. I had to browse the 2000 Cd and
I found the .exe files you were talking about. The prompts
walked me through the rest. Thanks for your help.

You're welcome.
