That's a new one, a "messenger spam" message that is actually helpful.
Microsoft does not scan it's customers for vulnerabilities, so I can say
that this message did not come from Microsoft. However, the information
regarding the KB article is accurate, and you may be vulnerable.

1. Visit windowsupdate.microsoft.com and get updated
2. Follow the steps in Q330904: "Messenger Service window that contains an
Internet advertisement appears" to stop spamming through the Messenger
Service.

Firstly - DO NOT follow the instructions. This is a piece of spam and is
likely to be an attempt to con you into installing some sort of trojan etc.
Use Microsoft's web site to download any patches, updates etc. that you
need.

Secondly - You received the alert via the Messenger Service that is built
into Win NT, 2000 and (I think) XP. Unless you use this, switch it off. You
can do this via Admistrative Tools - Sevices, or go to grc.com and download
the free Shoot the Messenger app.

You should also review your firewall protection. The fact that the spammer
could connect to your computer to display this otherwise harmless piece of
spam is an indication that you may also be open to many other more malicious
intrusions.

Thank You for your replies .
I have disabled the messenger service .
Is there any other things that I should
do manually to make my system more secure .

In win 98 ,zone alarm works fine but
in win2000 server it does not work
properly. Can you suggest any better
firewall that work fine in win2000 server .
