Installing Windows 2000 Professional on a cleanly
formatted partition (Win98 on the other partition) and
setup hangs on the "Installing Devices" screen (keyboard
and mouse). There is a warning that the screen may
flicker for a few seconds and until that happens the
mouse cursor moves, after the flicker everything
freezes. Help?!

before i suggest for you to do anything, i wanted to know
if you've installed any hardware on your computer, such as
RAM or anything like that.

Some piece of your hardware isn't compatible with W2k. Query it with HCL;
Disable/remove all but video adapter, try different video, finish setup, and
add hardware one-by-one.

Thanks, will try that. Do you think it's the monitor or
the screen card? Or could it be the mouse or keyboard?

Mainly setup freezes when it's trying to detect an incompatible video
adapter, and sometimes supercharged USB k/b or mouse could be the reason as
well.
