Win 2000 pro installation & reinstallation

I'm running on win 2000 pro but last nite when i booted the computer, the
desktop opened but it can't detect my DVD combo. I went back to reboot in
safe mode and the drives appear again. But when I went to normal mode again,
the drive can be detected but the system became really slow and the PC always
shows insufficient resources.

I tried to reinstall Windows but it just keep searching for older version of
windows.

What happened then ?

Check Device Manager for errors and or non-starting devices.

Checked. The CDROM is now present and working. But i simply can't install &
run anything as the resources is low. By the way, even though i can't
remember where & when it exactly happened, I got some message about errors
with rundll, something like that.

Anyway, i don't mind to reinstall the Windows but during the installation
process, it just keep searching for older version of Windows and finally, it
showed 'error on page...'.

By the way, how can i reinstall Win 2000 again based on this messy 'old' Win
2000 ?

After doing so be sure to apply these to your repair install before
connecting to any network.
