win 2000 pro german -> win 2000 pro english

Hi all,

Have a small prob. I decided to move from my win 2000 pro german version to
win 2000 pro english. I got my win 2000 still installed and just bought an
english version of win 2000 pro. Is there any quick / painless way to do the
transition? I mean I don't want to uninstall the old one. I want to spare me
the pain of having to install everything again. I thought of using the
recovery option from the english one and hope it will still work afterwards
and this time in english. I want to get rid of the german version, but if
using recovery is an option, I suppose the product key will be overwritten
in the registries as the recovery asks for the corresponding product key so
this might qualify as removing the old system after selling it (no longer
owning the license for the old one). Would this work, or do I really need to
uninstall the old one and install everything from scratch again?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Best regards,
Adrian

Greetings --

You cannot upgrade or convert from one language version of the a
Microsoft OS to another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full
version of English Win2K to perform a clean installation.

Hi,

Actually I have the full version of English Win2k. I just hoped I could do
the transition without having to reinstall all...

Oh. One more thing. If I cannot change it without reinstalling. Can I at
least keep for now the old installation and sell the old german CD? Both
were legally purchased copies and I will still have a license of a
fullversion of win2k pro, just a different language than the installed one.
I will eventually do the reinstalling as I would prefer to have the english
version (that is why I purchased it anyway), but would like to push the
hassle in the background for now. On the other hand I see no use for keeping
2 licenses so wanted to sell the german one in the meantime. Was wondering
how strict is the EULA and Microsoft rules in this regard?

Best regards,
Adrian
