win 2000 frustrating error message

I have been all over the Internet trying to find a fix for
this and there are many suggestions out there--but none so
far have helped me.

I often get programs that don't respond, and when I try to
use Task Manager to end the program, I get the following
error message: "This program cannot be closed. If it is
being debugged, please resume it or close the debugger
first." The only way out is shut down the system and re-
boot.

I've disabled Dr. Watson per a suggestion from a forum--no
effect-

There are so many people out there with the same problem,
I don't understand why there is not a Microsoft fix yet!!

Anybody?
Thanks!

This doesn't solve the problem you are having with hanging programs but it
should save you some reboots. There is a small freeware command line tool
called PSKill from www.sysinternals.com (in the PSTools section). All you
need to know is the process name or PID which you can get from Task Manager.
I haven't found many things that it can't kill. HTH.
