Are you able to run ms win 98 software apps in xp? I don't want to upgrade any of my software (ex: msworks 4,publisher,home essentials 98). Speed or use of newer features isn't an issue for me, money and familiarity with my current programs run from 98. ANy Issues. THX Geoff

Before buying I like to know more of what can be expected. Is there a technical answer for why some will work and some won't? If so I'll figure it all out before I move to the newer platform. Kinda like figuring the cost of a new car!

Download and run the Windows Upgrade Advisor. Here's a link:

You are very smart to research what will work and what won't *before*
you buy.
