Already since SP3 there have been LOADS of updates. Does anyone know if
MS plans a rollup package?

thanks

So far NO. XP is no longer "official" for sale. All the XPs that are
for sale are "left-over" stock.

WinXP SP3 (only) entered Extended Support in April 2009. At this point, MS
will only be releasing critical security updates for WinXP SP3 (only) and
will do so until April 2014.

Although the record of updates after SP3 in the registry is in "SP4" in the
folder tree, it is not likely that MS will bother to issue a Service Pack 4,
since Windows XP support is fading. They do combine some previous updates
into "Cumulative" updates on occasion - possibly to save overhead on the
servers that provide the files - and that helps people that need to
reinstall and get updates again. A Service Pack usually contains the
collection of previous hotfixes, and additional updates/improvements not
included in previous updates. Windows XP Firewall was added with Service
Pack 2.

(If MS does decide to issue SP4, I've got a wish-list of things to add. :)

Here's the SP4 registry location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP4

I have 53 KB* subfolders under SP4, and 1 under SP3.

See "Service Pack 4 Messages" file at:
%SystemRoot%\system32\xpsp4res.dll

Anyone keeping track of how many Vista users are "upgrading" back to XP?

A few months back the Service Pack roadmap page did not definitively
say there would be no SP4. I see now that it states no further updates
will happen. Oh well, I have heard positive reviews of Win 7. The SP4
naming is just probably for internal tracking to differentiate
post-SP3 files. We can't all live in XP land forever.
