will re-creating a mistakenly deleted user account recognize old d

hello... I was playing around with domain and workgroup settings, and when I
removed myself from the domain, I notice that it also deleted my user account
that I use to log in. Luckily, I notice that my profile under C:\Documents
and settings was not deleted, so I have access to my documents and emails..
but my question is if I re-create a user with the same name as before, will
it recognize what was already stored in C:\Documents and settings\<username>?
Or will it overwrite the old data?

No. The new user account that you create will have a different SID and
it will not use the same profile folder. You can create a new user
account and modify the ProfileImagePath at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\<New-SID-Number>

and have the new user use the old users profile folder.

See here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324734 the same applies to
Windows XP.

You will most likely have a problem, so first make a backup of those
important files.
Next create your new Account. Move the files to the new account.
If you have problems accessing these files then see below.
