I am using MS Outlook 2002. Suddenly it is not allowing me to reduce the
size!! when I press the button between minimise and close (not sure what it's
called!) it completely minimises to the bottom tray - any ideas?
thanks
msiz

It's only doing what you told it to. R click the Outlook icon in the system
tray. You have checked "Hide When Minimized" haven't you?

no! it doesnt give me that option whe n I right click!

You're probably not looking at the right place. Clarify your post: State
what you are doing and what you see. You are providing no information.

I am right clicking on the MS OUtlook icon as advised and I do not get the
option that says "hide when minimsed". I dont know that there is much more I
can tell you!

My initial problem is that when I open OUtlook it is maximised taking up the
whole screen and it will not allow me to rezie it. when I click on the
button between minimise and close it reduces to the system tray

You can tell me what you DO see when you R click on the icon. Something
doesn't fit here and I'm afraid you may not be clicking on the correct
place. You are using a R click, right? You should have 5 options, among them
"Hide when minimized."

Also, the behavior you describe does not fit with your Outlook version.
Verify your version and make sure you didn't update it recently.

Yes. Why can't you just tell me what you see?
I've never seen Outlook 2002 minimize to the System tray without some kind
of add-in. Did you ever install a trial version of Outlook 2003?

Just doing the best I can without the information I need. We can't read

I will go elsewhere for an answer as I think you are being quite
patronising
and obstructive for a so called "help forum"

Outlook 2002 has a registry setting called "MinToTray" (see
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/minimize_tray.htm) that will allow Outlook
to be placed in the notification area of the Task bar (i.e., the system tray
where the clock resides) then you press the Minimize button. However, that
option is not enabled by default and you would have had to add the feature
yourself in order to enable it. The button between Minimize and Close is
the Maximize/Restore button and it simply does not work in any Windows
application in the manner you describe.
