Hi All,
I'm having serious start up problems with my PC after it tried to install
Service Pack 3 for XP. Towards the end of the installation, lots of windows
errors came up saying it could not read from memory address xx xx xxx etc...
Anyway, whateverI did the errors would not go away so I hard-rebooted the
machine.
Upon it starting up again, there was no familiar post sound, although it did
go through the BIOS screen start and onto the Windows loading screen. But,
what what seemed like a long time on the windows screen it went to a screen
saying "cannot find autochk installed" ... then went to a Blue Screen of
Death for what seemed like a tenth of a second and then rebooted itself.
I have tried inserting the Windows CD and selecting recovery console and
used CHKDSK and everything was fine in that respect. I tried the FIXBOOT
command to no avail. Nothing will get it to boot to windows' desktop.
One thing I did notice looking at the PSU is that the fan was not whirring
around on it even though it felt quite warm.
According to the BIOS screen, the memory check passed ok and I removed and
reseated one chunk of memory plus the graphics card. Still not working.
Please help
