Will Heat sink fit on my Asus A8N-E?

Putting together a new system..

Planning on getting the
ASUS A8N-E Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard -
motherboard, and the
Antec Performance I P180 Silver Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case.

Looking to add a "Tuniq - Tower 120 Cooler"

manufacturer's site
http://www.tuniq.com.tw/Cooler Info/Tower-120.htm

Page 5 of this review has it up against a tape-measure showing it's
height/size
http://www.ocia.net/reviews/tuniq/page1.shtml

The Antec P180 has good airflow.. You think this huge heat sink ruin
that and make the inside of the case overly hot? I still have to check
that it won't just out past the top of the side of the case as well !

You think this heatsink will go on the A8N-E board? It looks like
there may be an issue with all the caps around the cpu?

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Tony!

At risk for attacks again let me say:

The latest AMDs, at least my AMD64 3000, are quieter and cooler than
the XP series.

The P180 was designed for quiet and more efficient cooling although
you must make sure the psu cables are long enough.

I have a 754 and use a CoolerMaster CK8-something which is very quiet
(32-40db) while keeping my cpu cool at 28C and only cost 20USD. I
can barely hear that 2" high cooler in my Antec SK3700 case.

Check the weight, noise and cooling specs for the Tower 120 against some
traditional fans and pick the quietest and coolest. Nothing is
more annoying than fan noise or high temps.

It looks reasonably large in that link.

It looks like it deserves it's own ZIP Code in that link.
Is that the largest ever?

Do you "need" that? I suspect a lot of systems run with
something a little easier to implement and work around
inside the system.

No, so long as it doesn't get really close to the rear
exahust fan on the case it will not make the case any warmer
or cooler... though it might tend to make the
motherboard/power-subcircuits run a little hotter, but it's
hard to tell, I'd take temp measurements to compare.
I still have to check
that it won't just out past the top of the side of the case as well !

Well you could choose something else... it's bound to be
pretty expensive too so what do you hope to gain? A
significantly smaller 'sink can quietly cool a CPU.

Yes it'd probably fit because the base is narrow and the
fins a fair height above the base... so it'll probably clear
the caps but you won't be able to see them anymore, which I
would find a bit unsettling as I like to glance in at them
periodically (like during cleaning) to be sure they're not
swelling up... a little advanced notice means far shorter
system downtime.

Personally I'd be more likely to choose the XP-90C as seen
in the last page of the linked review... being shorter may
be of benefit by reducing stress on the board and case.

Quote from the last page of the review

Cons

Installation was a pain.
It's Huge.
It's Heavy.
Couldn't outperform a heatsink half it's size.

It also places a cheap fan in a horizontal orientation that
may cause shorter lifespan.

... but worst of all, it's not shiney enough and there's no
LEDs or CCFL on it. ;-)
