Kyle, just make sure that your Motherboard Bios can handle a 2500+. XP
won't complain if CPU is setup properly.
I just swapped out a 2400 XP for a 1900 MP. My cpu was failing and I had
the mp laying around. XP would boot but
just get to the Welcome Screen and get Stuck. I forgot to adj the voltage
for the cpu in the Bios from 1.65v to 1.75v.
Also, I had to underclock it. 166x7.5 which is about 1300mhz. instead
of the rated 1600mhz. Runs way to hot otherwise.
Underclocking allowed me to lower the voltage to 1.70 which cooled down
the cpu about 9 degrees.

i have recently flashed my bios, athlon cpu's up to the 3000+ and the
more recent sempron series are covered.

anything higher will most definitely require a new motherboard, and at
that point it will be easier to just buy a whole new machine :)
