Lost the Administrator account - does not exist in Safe mode.

If I run the "R" repair using the original CD - will it add back the
Administrator?

Thx

The Administrator account exists in Windows XP Home Edition, but it does not
typically appear on the Welcome logon screen. In Windows XP Home Edition
the Administrator account is not displayed in User Accounts unless the
computer is in Safe mode. You have to boot into Safe Mode to access the
Administrator account in User Accounts.

Start | Settings | Control Panel | User Accounts

In short form for Wesley, Administrator account may not have been lost.
1 from control panel-users and accounts, check to see if administrator
account exists or equivalent ( renamed)
2 from the friendly logon mode screen after boot up (if you don't have
another admin account),
try alt-control-del key combination quickly a couple of times until you see
the logon prompt. type in the administrator account name and password.

You will then know if the administrator account has been really lost or just
hidden

Sorry
Guess you did not see my earlier post.

here it is.

Some how a user was able to remove/delete the Local Administrator
Account.

When I log on in Safe mode - it does not exists.

How do I get it back?
I am using XP Professional

See my reply to group

I did alt-control-del key combination quickly a couple times - it will not
let me log on as Administrator.

I checked the profiles and it does not exists.

Will the "R" re-install the local Administrator?

I guess one can only know that if they had the problem and tried it. Do
report back.

But, if R replaces the registry, then it should do.
(if it doesn't, then maybe if you delete the registry files, then R
then it'll replace them. But that's dangerous speculation by me)

Maybe you could add user accounts from the registry (if XP Home doesn't
let you do it with a GUI in windows)

Maybe another XP Home machine or even XP Pro machine will, in their
registry, show you what to change.
