WIFI Killed

From the day i installed Defender, supplanting antispyware, my Wifi got
killed/blocked 2 days in a row at exactly the same time whilst running in
background (prgrammd daily scan). After twice reinstalling the netlink, i
left off Defender, no problems. Emperically, put it on next day....same
happened. My wifi is D-Link G604T router not wired to any PC (really WIFI
hidden near telephone box), with G122's as wireless links to the Router.

Is the scheduled scan set to take the suggest actions--i.e. to remove
spyware after the scan? In some cases, removing spyware can disrupt
networking, or, there could be a false positive. You might want to look at
the System Event log entries with source WinDefend--they should show
precisely what was detected and removed, and you can see whether it was a
piece of the wifi drivers, or what might be happening.

System Event Log? If System.log, then cannot open as ''used by other
processes". Which application allows to view this?

OK:

Right-click My Computer, and choose Manage

Click on the Plus sign in front of Event Viewer.

Click on System.

Click on View, and choose Filter
Click on the source dropdown control and choose WinDefend.

That should show you just events related to WIndows Defender.

You should see yellow triangle symbols around the detections during the
scans--those should have complete path and file data, and you can work up
from there to see what it says about the removals--but I think the initial
detection message has all the data in it.

Obscured.....its a VOIP related piece, nothing removed oddly, supposedly some
corrupt registry entries it did not like.

One side effect of some fairly common spyware removal has been disruption of
the Winsock chain (not sure what to call this--chain, stack?) At any rate,
this is fairly easy to fix in XP SP2, and Microsoft has tried to lessen the
incidence of this side-effect, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was still
with us. This doesn't sound like what happened to you, though.

Thanks Bill.....i decided to uninstall completely as it is to me untenable
that events causing my Wifi to cease without active notification is
untennable. Once more i site secrecy and once more the products integration
into the OS proof the excessive inside track (The EU Competition commission
is already interested of where Care-Live is going) has required the average
user to be @ sys-admin level, rather than user. I found no event-log insite
Windefender, so apparently the superficial user is not to know.

Sorry to hear that--but I don't blame you--if the network won't work, the
product needs to go until that issue can be fixed.
