Wierd probelm with big hard drive!! PLEASE HELP!!!

I had a RAID 0 configuration set up and one of the hard drives went bad on me
but I was able to get access to all the data on the hard drives with the RAID
0 configuration. I had an 8gig hard drive sitting around and I installed
win2000 w/ SP4 and got it started up. I then formatted another brand new 200
gig hard drive so that I could put all of the data from my RAID 0
configuration onto the 200gig so that I would have a backup. Well I had
gotten all of the data off of the RAID 0 hard drives onto the 200gig hard
drive and then I restarted my computer and it said that drive G (the 200gig
hard drive) was unaccessable or dirty. So then I had to format it and do the
same thing over again. I did it this time and basically the same thing
happened. What I ended up doing was making a partition on the 200gig hard
drive 127gigs and then the other partition 58gigs. I did this because I
thought maybe there was an issue with the 137+ gigs on one partition. I got
all the data on there and everything seems to be good. I can restart and do
everything I want and it seems to be fine everytime.
What I am wanting to do is just make one big partition instead of having two
seperate partitions. How can I do this without the hard drive getting all
messed up??
Before my RAID 0 hard drives got messed up I had the two RAID 0 hard drives
and an another extra 200gig hard drive that was partitioned to the max (like
187 or something) and that has always seemed to work just fine. One thing
that was different though was that with the RAID 0 harddrives I had winXP
installed and not win2000. Would this make the difference? Thanks for any
help!!

Hi,

You are needing to make a smaller partition just for the system (15g). Then
install SP2. Once done, you will be able to format and partition the rest
via Disk Management.

To do other than that use: Highly recommended by many. I have used it for
years.

On a personal note, it is better to have the operating system on its own
partition. One reason being that if the system for whatever reason needs to
be reinstalled, all else will be well. From that, you will be up and
running again within 30 minutes.

Good luck either way.

Kelly,
zac_haryy is running win2000 w/ SP4

You are correct that but if you read the OP carefully he was using WinXP
on the RAID 0 drives and is asking if going back up to XP will make a
difference using the new 200GB drive. Kelly's advice applies and I
agree, it's better to have a sufficiently large boot partition but no
need to have it bigger than really needed.

I read it as he had XP when the 200 GB drive was working, now he has Win
2000.
Then, he ask if that would make a difference.
He didn't say that he was going back to XP.
