Wierd internet connection problem

Hello,

I am facing a wierd problem.

I am able to connect my Yahoo messenger but unable to browse the
Internet through the browser (Tried IE, Firefox, Opera)

I am connecting through a proxy server, and all settings seem to be
fine. Tried disabling firewall at both the ends, no help. I even have
a local network webserver (192.168.0.1). If I point my browser, "page
can't be displayed" error pops up. But if I telnet 192.168.0.1:80, its
perfect (i can use raw http protocol to fetch files through telneting
the local server)

(
Details:
-Problem system: Windows XP home
-Proxy server on Win xp pro
-Same workgroup.
-Problem system can ping server but not vice versa
-Can connect yahoo messenger through the problem system

)

Any idea what could be the problem, I also tried restting the TCP/IP
protocol on my Windows XP system.

Many thanks!

1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced.
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Click on Connection tab, then click LAN settings and make sure the Proxy is
checked there ( did you used the proxy before or this New and what your DNS,
is it Auto or Static?).

Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

2... And also for malware from here:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D

Then Try this:
Open a Run Command and type in these DLL to reregister and see if that will
help:
regsvr32 Dssenh.dll
regsvr32 Rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 Gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 Slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 Mssip32.dll
regsvr32 Cryptdlg.dll
regsvr32 Initpki.dll
regsvr32 Sccbase.dll
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 Wintrust.dll
regsvr32 mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Jscript.dll
netsh winsock reset

You may have winsock corrupt or damaged so download this winsock fixer:
http://www.nasstec.co.uk/tools.html
Double click it to run it and Reboot your machine and see if you will be
able to access the Internet with either IE or Fox.
After finishing Reboot your machine and try to log in on that site.
HTH.
Let us know.
