widows xp operating system is missing

When using the first recovery cd in my sony vaio with
WinXp the installation failed and now i am unable to boot
into windows. 2 error messages come up 1)ntldr is missing
and 2/ operating system not found. Have tried everything,
used windows xp startup disks and can get into the
recovery ssection but dont know what else to try

OK you got me. You slip the recovery CD into your CD drive and boot from that
CD drive.. But now you cannot re-install Windows XP from that point? It
should just re-format your Hard Drive (you'll lose everything)..

Is this what you are saying - you cannot re-install from the booted CD?
