I would like to purchase a wide-screen LCD display 1680x1050. My video card
is analog, nVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440. Good idea?

Not really, at that resolution you will suffer a little
image degradation running analog instead of DVI. It won't
be severe, you might find it acceptible enough to use but as
far as ideas go, I wouldn't use analog for 1280x1024 and
especially not any higher.

I really like the idea of DVI. Digital means numbers and with DVI, numbers
representing the image are sent directly to the LCD Monitor for display, no
conversions, etc. like with analog.

The potential downside is 'display port' is coming out which will replace
DVI. It does nothing but get us to spend more money, IMHO.

Your older lower-powered video card will NOT handle wide screen LCD's.

That's utterly BS. The capability to do widescreen has _nothing_ to do
with the GPU performance. Even a GF2MX handles widescreen LCDs just fine.
