Wide screen monitor

Hi, Everybody,

I'm lusting after a wide screen monitor. I'm running a powerspec computer
with Win XP Pro and a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 video card.

How do I find out if this supports a widescreen lcd monitor?

Thanks in advance,

Kay

What size monitor? Can you give it a test?

Yours is apparently a 64Mb card, which may not have the capacity for
highest color depth at the native resolution of larger widescreen
monitors. The adapter driver will also impact this.

simple answer is no

shop for a newer pci card and keep the 440 for the CRT{s}

I did this some time ago with my 8yr old AMD 1gb CPU Athlon and winfast AGP
dualhead 32mb to 2 Hitachi 802u CRTs...Newer GF PCI card DVI output to
42inch Plasma......the CRTs are set at 1280x1024 85hz refresh. The DVI I
can play with from 1080i down dependent on source files

VideoLan Player can be dragged to the Plasma and Fullscreened [pisses my
wife off to no end sometimes] heh

With that old a card, probably not.

Get something like one of the ATI x series or one of the newer 6xxx or 7xxx
nVidia cards.

Only if I buy it, bring it home, and then take it back if it doesn't work.

Aggggh. :(

I'm afraid you may be right...

42inch Plasma? WOW.

VideoLan Player can be dragged to the Plasma and Fullscreened [pisses my

Ah, where's her sense of humor? <grin>

I may start looking at video cards... the NVIDIA is onboard...

Thanks,

Kay

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus. The properties box for the screen
settings go up to 1600 * 1200, and that actually works on my current
monitor...but its too small to be comfortable to work on.

Get something like one of the ATI x series or one of the newer 6xxx or
7xxx nVidia cards.

I'll look into that! Maybe it's time for a new machine, period...

Thanks!!
