Display Hardware Issue?

I am running XP-SP2 and have a LG Studioworks 995E 19" monitor. My video
card is a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440. Just today, when windows are open on the
desktop, the text that is in the center and lower part of the monitor seems
to be a bit fuzzy. Text on the left, right, and top edge of the monitor is
nice and sharp. Does anyone have any suggestions on this? Could this be the
monitor going bad? I've used many different monitors and have never seen
this issue before. Any suggestions that would keep me from shelling out for
a new monitor would be appreciated.

With a CRT monitor that type of distortion is possible. If the
distortion is not acceptable then I suggest you start looking at
comparable LCD displays rather than spending any money getting it
repaired.

I thought that was what I was going to be told. Ugh! I guess I should be
happy that the monitor lasted 4 years. I guess this is as good as any reason
to convince the wife we need a nice LCD monitor.

Go into the monitor's on screen menu options, see if there is an option
named 'Degauss', if there is try degaussing the monitor, it's a long shot
but might work.

one... Came across a Hanns-G JW-199DPB 19" Widescreen LCD that seems to be
pretty inexpensive, but good reviews. Anyone here have any comments on that?

I haven't solved yesterday's yet.

Go into the monitor's on screen menu options, see if there is an option

pretty inexpensive, but good reviews. Anyone here have any comments on that?

Widescreen LCD monitors require up to date video cards as well, ones
that are capable of producing 16:10 aspect ratio resolutions such as
1440 x 900.

Running a widescreen monitor with conventional 4:3 aspect drivers,
such as 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024 results in horizontal stretching -
circles become ovals, people in photographs get fat, etc.

So check out the capabilities of your video card before you make your
monitor choice.
