Wide screen laptop

hello

I just bought an AOpen 1551-AW1 laptop with a wide screen resolution of
1280X800 - this ratio is 3:2 and not the standard 4:3.
problem is winodws doesn't recognize this ratio and offers only standard
800X600 / 1024X768 which are fine for text and most programs but all images
are displayed too wide.

all drivers are installed correctly but AOpen doesn't have display card and
or screen driver and uses windows drivers.

Is there any way to add another resolution option to the display properties
menu ?

If you have just bought it then it must be under warranty. It's better to
ask the vendor/dealer.

Windows is not the source of your display resolution. It just allows
choices, which are governed by the combination of the video adapter and the
boards drivers. Go to the manufacturer for the answers to your question.

are you sure there's no video driver in this d/l:
http://download.aopen.com.tw/userdownload_List.aspx?RecNo=8096&Model=1551-
AW1/AG1 .

it's description is: 1551 all drivers for Windows 2000/XP

about a 34 meg d/l.

Try here:

http://download.aopen.com.tw/default.aspx

You can search for your model number. The all in one driver for the 1551-AW1
says it includes all needed drivers for Windows 2000/XP. You should always
check the manufacturer's web site first. Drivers are almost always
available.
